
Pistols and Prayers, the sociopolitical Hip-Hop
theatre piece written and directed by Def Poet and Hip-Hop theater artist, Ise Lyfe,
returns to Oakland for a limited engagement at 408 14th Street, Downtown Oakland

Pistols and Prayers, a play based on the book, brings together spoken word, African-
American folk spirituals, classical music, Hip-Hop and theatre. The provocative piece
sold out the Tony Award winning Berkeley Repertory Theater during its premier in 2009.
Pistols and Prayers runs Friday, June 17 through Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 408 14th St,
Downtown Oakland. The performance schedule includes two shows on Friday and
Saturday at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $15
