College Tour Info
Who:
3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic’s P.H.A.T (Pretty, Hot, And, Thick) Gurlz Group in both Thurgood Marshall and Philip & Sala Burton High School Youth.
Group for young women youth 14 to18yrs to help build self esteem/confidence and to empower youth with life skills, also for youth to learn how to empower themselves and each other. Learning to embrace one another and not go against each other, while supporting each other in our sisterhood and giving back to the community.
What:
HBCU (Historically, Black, College, Universities) College Tour
Where:
On this college tour we’ll be going to Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama
When:
March 27th through April 3rd 2010
Why:
As a community member I feel that our youth are not fully exposed to the opportunities that lay before them. I feel that on this college tour the youth of the Bayview community will be exposed to different experiences and people of different backgrounds, while also learning an important history of the Historically Black colleges and universities.
How Much:
In total it will cost ONE THOUSAND dollars for each of our youth who want to take part in the tour, so far we have 16 youth signed up. We are expecting the youth to put up half of the cost so we can match what they put in. Though in these tough times and the fact that all the youth taking part are from low-income backgrounds we are asking for your help also.
OTHER ways to make a donation:
If you want to write a check please make it out to the 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic. Or you can bring your donation down to the clinic at 5190 Third St cross street Thomas.
